Seller Story
O’Toole Construction Inc. started as O’Toole & Son Construction. Jim and his father Sylvester, started the business in February of 1965. Jim and I had brought our second baby home from the hospital and Jim told me he had quit his job, gone to the bank, and borrowed enough money to buy a used D7, a used grader, and a pickup truck. Terraces were $0.06 per foot and dozer work $15/hr.Breakdowns and weather were our enemies, our wonderful customers our saviors. Word of mouth was our best advertising. Before long we increased our machinery inventory, and in 1970 Ronnie joined the team and Tim in 1980. Both brothers had good reputations as operators and great work ethics. We built ponds, terraces, waterways, pushed brush, and bid some reclamation work for the state and anything pertaining to dirt work. The reclamation work was our bread and butter through the winter. Jim loved cattle so he incorporated cattle into the business. Nick O’Toole came along at the right time and was hired to take care of the cattle and farm. Sylvester retired in 1981 and in 1990 we incorporated and the name was changed. At one time we employed nine.
All our success would not have been possible without our great customers. We are very grateful for their loyalty and can’t thank them enough for letting us be their dirt contractor.
It has been a great and interesting journey!
Thank you, take care and God Bless,
Margaret, Ronnie, Tim, and Nick
