Seller Story

Greetings Cattlemen and Women,

Valnes Ranch will be offering registered Red Angus and Hereford Bulls at Big Iron for the first time in 2022. I am a third-generation rancher who has been raising the Red Angus breed for about 40 years. Previously, I have sold bulls via private treaty as well as private bull sales. Several years ago, my wife and I decided to spend the cold winter months in Arizona, so we began planning our operation around this. I now calve later in the spring and kept my bulls over a year. These bulls are coming two-year-olds, so they are one year older, bigger, and will last many years covering the herds of our customers.

My Red Angus bulls have an extremely attractive phenotype, a good foot, and are out of cows with good udders. They have good pedigrees that include the great Mulberry 26P who is known worldwide and his son, Ghost Rider 108Y. Additionally, several bulls are grandsons of Opportunity 53Y. These sires produce calves with lots of muscle who can really turn feed into red meat with strong weaning and yearling weights. The calves are attractive with good temperaments.

We are also offering a nice set of Hereford bulls. Years back, I purchased a small herd of Herefords as they brought me good memories of my dad. My Dad paid for his ranch with good hearty Hereford cows. My herd was started with 12 heifers from Lilybrook Herefords and a great bull from Topp Herefords. From here, we build a herd with ideal structure, big frames, and efficiency. They have good feet with a good coat of hair.

Due to the dry weather, we took the bulls to Hinseth’s Farm in Irene, South Dakota. They have done a great job feeding the bulls and will be located at there for viewing.

Sale Conditions:
Big Iron determines all financial terms of the sale; buyers are responsible to be aware of Big Iron sale terms. All bulls become the buyer’s property as soon as they are sold. Neither the seller nor any person connected with the sale assumes any liability, legal or otherwise. Bulls may continue to be cared for by Hinseth’s Farm up to one week after the sale at seller’s expense. Any injury or death of the bull is the buyer’s responsibility immediately after the purchase; insurance is recommended.

Guarantee:
To the best of our knowledge, bulls are healthy and free from disease or defect. All bulls have passed fertility testing done on March 16, 2022. Bulls selling for $3,500 or more will be guaranteed for one full breeding season which is defined as the 90-day period following the first turnout of the bull. Purchasers who receive a guarantee should contact the seller via writing with any claims of non-performance due to infertility. Should the purchaser determine the bull to be non-performing within the 90-day breeding season, a claim may be submitted to the seller via writing. The claim must include a current fertility test and health report from a veterinarian. The seller reserves the right to have a second veterinarian health report completed, including fertility test, on the bull. If the bull is confirmed to be non-performing by the seller’s veterinarian, the purchaser’s claim will result in full credit for the purchase price of the bull to be used at a future sale from the seller or replacement if available. Injury or injury resulting in death is not the seller’s responsibility.
