"Seed For The Future" 30x36 Painting, Painting By Rodney Watson. Watson’s Works Can Be Found In The Collections Of The Late Jimmy Dean; The Late Jerry Clower; Former Texas Speaker Of The House Pete Laney; Nolan Ryan And Former First Lady Laura Bush. “Seed For The Future” (the Story Behind The Painting) This Painting Was A Commission Piece I Did For A Seed Producer. I Had Just Painted The Sky And Was Trying To Decide What I Needed To Do To Complete The Bright And Bold Sunset. After Visualizing Some Possibilities, I Informed The Raiser That I Actually Knew Very Little About Milo Other Than I Had Seen Several Fields Over The Years And Had Learned That I Was Extremely Allergic To It – A Discovery That Changed My Mind About A Farming Career Back In High School. I Made A Few Trips To The Fields With Him And His Wife And As The Crop Began To Mature, I Received My Crash Course In Seed Sorghum. As The Days Approached For The Harvest I Drove Out To The Field Several Times To Take Photos For Research Material. At The Time The Male Sorghum Was Mature, Those Rows Were Harvested And Shred To Prevent The Cross-contamination. On Actual Harvest Day I Spent The Afternoon Rolling Around To Capture Every Angle I Could For Reference Material. I Was Asked To Leave The Male Rows In The Painting For Show. The Entire Color Combination Turned Out Beautifully And The Finished Product Has Become One Of My Favorites. Rodney Watson Bio Like Many A Young Man Growing Up In The 1950’s, Images Of The Wild West Were Permanently Etched Into The Mind Of Artist Rodney Watson As He Eagerly Arose Each Saturday Morning To Catch Every Episode Of Each Weekly Western Showing On The Small Screen. The Horses And The Cattle On The Family Farm Enabled Him To Live Out Many A Childhood Wild-west Adventure Back In Those Days. Western Images Still Stroll Across The Artist’s Mind, But The Years Have Helped Define The Boundaries Between Fact And Fiction. Over Thirty Years Ago Rodney Had Begun To Carve Out His Niche As An Artist, But Circumstances Prompted His Return To The Business World. Ten Years Ago, He Was Able To Return To His Studio Full Time. Since That Time, He Has Stepped Away From His Pencil Works And Bronze Sculpting To Focus On Oil Painting. NOTE: BUYER MUST PAY SHIPPING OF $35 - Item Will Be Shipped Once Invoice Is Paid In Full; CANNOT BE SOLD OUTSIDE THE USA. Donated By: S&W Seed
